Gender Affirming Surgery Letters
If you are looking for a letter for gender affirming surgery (or you’re the parent of a minor who is seeking a letter for hormone therapy), please read ALL of the below before contacting me. Licenses are expensive and difficult to get, and expensive and difficult to keep. I mostly keep mine to be able to write letters, and I want to write as many as possible until they are no longer a requirement. You can help me continue to offer this service to the community by reading and following the steps below.

.) I provide assessments, follow up with other providers, and write letters for free. This is entirely in the realm of consultation, and does not imply an ongoing therapeutic relationship. It’s a one-shot deal.

.) I can only meet with you for an assessment when you are physically located in a state in which I’m licensed (CA, IL, NY). It’s fine if you live somewhere else, or will be having surgery somewhere else. You just gotta be in one of those three states when we meet.

.) You also gotta be somewhere private, indoors, and with a stable internet connection.

.) Once you know for sure that you can line these things up, send me an email that includes a picture of your ID and this release of information made out to yourself and signed. Your ID and ROI are how I create your case and hold a time for you.

.) If you have specific time constraints (surgery is coming up, you work a rotating schedule, you’ll only be in state for a week, etc), let me know in your email. Please also let me know your time zone.

.) I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m able with a proposed time or times. Please let me know if one of them works for you, and, if not, propose some alternative times. I get a fair number of requests, my waitlist can get long, and sometimes requests do fall through the cracks. I also prioritize people who need letters from PhDs (generally people seeking bottom surgery) and people without the financial resources to go elsewhere—if that’s you, feel free to say so in your initial inquiry.

.) If you don’t hear back from me in a week, feel free to follow up by email.

.) Our meeting will be fairly brief, and will follow WPATH SoC 8 guidelines for establishing capacity to provide informed consent, medical necessity, and viable postsurgical care plan.

.) Thanks for reading!
